Uncharted: Drake and the Trophy HuntUncharted: Drake and the Trophy Hunt

Some weeks ago, trophy support was added for games on the PS3. Those trophies are basically exactly the same as the achievements that the XBox 360 made so famous lately, they just have a different name. The problem only was: Nearly no game supported trophies in the beginning. But now this is slowly changing. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the male equivalent to Lara Croft created by developer Naughty Dog and one of the best PS3 games, now got patched and includes 48 trophies that you can collect if you want to. But there is a downside: Medals were included in the game from the start, and if you already collected those, than they will be gone once you install the patch. This is because those medals were basically only renamed and are now called trophies, but the objectives you need to fulfill to get them are exactly the same as before. There is only one trophy which is really new: this is the one you get once you have collected all 47 other trophies. So why can't you just convert your medals into trophies? Why do you have to begin anew? Arne Meyer, Senior Manager of Marketing Communications at Naughty Dog, answers this question: This was done so that everyone receives their Trophies fairly and can’t take advantage of the game saves we’ve seen floating around. That means you will have to start a brand new game — without any medals or rewards unlocked—and play through Uncharted to get Trophies. So if you are into trophies, this gives you one more reason to play the game, before Drake gets some serious competition in November when Tomb Raider: Underworld is hitting shelves. Although Lara doesn't have trophies yet, she has certainly got ... other arguments.
