Celebrating the 12th anniversary of the Command & Conquer franchise, Electronic Arts released the Gold edition of the 1995 firstborn -- for free.

In order to give back to the fans for over 12 years of devotion we are putting together a 12th Anniversary celebration during the month of September. [...] We are providing the original Command & Conquer Gold as a free download, compatible for Windows XP!

It's a 1,14 GByte download, which enthusiasts and curious minds can grab in form of two CD images from the official homepage. To play, just burn or mount them. Make sure to follow the steps provided in the CCGOLD_XP_INSTALL.doc, to get the game to work with Windows XP.

The 1997 Gold edition of Command & Conquer comes, compared to the original release, with SVGA (instead of VGA) graphics and Windows (instead of DOS only) support.

This game is very great and the sound^^ when a Sammler on Soldier drive.
