Mass Effect: Bring Down The Sky now ready for PCMass Effect: Bring Down The Sky now ready for PC
Last updated on July 30, 2008 - 10:59.
Bring Down The Sky is the first of "many downloadable additions for Mass Effect", according to EA. As of today, it is now also available for the PC. It's a about 90 minutes long episode not connected to the main quest in the game. The Batarian aliens do not like the people of Terra Nova, therefore they send an asteroid on a collision course with that world. In order to use the downloadable (free) content for your PC version of the game, you need to go to: http://masseffect.bioware.com/downloadablecontent/ and register your full version's CD key. Then download the addon, install and enter the addon CD key you got in the first step. For some reason, the English/Spanish installer is 309 MB in size, while French and Italian versions reach about 470 MB and the German version 512 MB -- if you ever needed proof that it takes longer to say something in German, here it is.

We should add that BdtS is very buggy. I lost my Sound, SondFX and cant change my settings. Other report that after downloading BdtS, the game wont start any longer.
I guess I'll be waiting for the next patch, then... can't change my sound settings either.
We should also add that the page takes a very long time to respond. For me, the site loaded only on the second try, and without most of the graphics. The download speed, however, seems to be higher than my connection can handle. :)
15 minutes for 309MB is less time than it took most patches for Battlefield 2 to reach my HD. ;)
Edit: Hmm, now the page loads fine.
Edit (again): I might also add that the installer is too bloody stupid to accept the copied CD-Key correctly. For some obscure reason it insisted on copying a space in front of the first set of characters, resulting, of course, in an invalid key. If the rest of the thing works just as well... ;)
@ copied CD key
that often happens, just to make it more difficult to use a digitally stored (illegal?) key.
(no, i'm not accusing you of anything)
That can't be the reason, can it? I mean, no sane person would opt for copying the key character by character if they have the simple option of copying and pasting it - and with BdtS, it's not as if they sent the keys out per snail mail, they're right on the bloody website. If they make it available digitally, making it harder for me to copy it is just plain silly.
But so is restricting me to three installs, I suppose... ;)
Oh, sorry, then I got it wrong. My mistake
I have some serious camera problems after downloading BdtS - and the patch didn't make anything better!
