Germany —

After the final Tokyo location-tests in June, Virtua Fighter 5: Revolution eventually hits the Japanese arcades. New to VF5:R are two characters: karateka Jean Kujo, and returning sumo wrestler Taka-Arashi (who first debuted in Virtua Fighter 3 but was then dropped for VF4&5 due to his massive size and weight - according to AM-2).

Packed with a whole box of changes such as gameplay tweaks, new moves, stages, polished-up graphics and animations, Virtua Fighter 5 wants to regain the crown of the best arcade fighting game ever created. And once again, it could very well succeed so.

Whether Virtua Fighter 5: Revolution will ever arrive on the home consoles is uncertain though. Nothing has been announced yet. However, there is reason to have hopes: due to the fact that VF5 has already been ported to both current-gen consoles Xbox 360 and PS3, a console release seems fairly reasonable. The core engine remained the same so that porting VF5:R should neither take an insurmountable amount of time nor money.

Until now Sega has released two trailers for Virtua Fighter 5: Revolution:

  1. AOU 2008 trailer
  2. Official release trailer
