Germany —

They are not at all new to the music game genre. One could even say that they were the main company which created (Dancing Stage, Guitar Freaks) and nurtured it. And now, at a time where it is as popular as never before, they are planning to also grab a piece of the big music game cake again. We're talking about Konami and their new game Konami Rock Revolution, which was announced back in May this year and now shown at E3. Read on for more infos and some screens of Konami's new project.

The focus of the game lies on you being a member of a band once more, which is why there will also be a drum kit included. This seems to be much more complex than its counterpart from Rock Band, with six face pads and a kick pedal. So it might take some time to really get into playing it, which is probably one of the reasons why Konami wants to include a rehearsal mode into the game, where you can just practice and take your time without chasing points.

This could be you on the drums, cowboy! But don't forget to practice hard in the rehearsal mode.

Your main objective in the game is once more, like in all music games, rather abstract. While one of over 40 included songs is playing in the background, you will have to hit your instrument (drums, bass, guitar) in the correct rythm and manner while symbols are running down the screen. You can do this on- or offline, and you can choose between 15 avatars (with a rather realistic, but still somehow comical look) that impersonate you.

Two of 15 avatars you'll be able to choose from.

Co-operative gameplay and a mode where bands compete against each other will also be at service for you. No matter if you have a PS3, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii or Nintendo DS: the game will be released for all those consoles. However, we have only received word about extra downloadable content for the systems by Microsoft and Sony yet. But: Nintendo gamers are already used to that, aren't they? To make up for this, the developers will include special air guitar and air drum moves that you can perform with the Wiimote and Nunchuk. On the Wii, you will also be able to get extra points for behaving like a rockstar, so you might want to give it a try to smash your instrument virtually. Or just do a high jump into the air.

On the dancefloor you're always laughed at when you play the air guitar? Won't happen to you on the Wii, pal.

This new opportunity to be a rockstar will be made available for you in early 2009.

Look at them. Sends shivers down your spine, doesn't it? This could be your crowd come early 2009.

*bursts into tears* So my PC isn't even a gaming platform anymore...Could you maybe change that into "consoles", just so that I can stop cyring?

I didn't mean to make you cry. Sorry for that. Judging from what a horrendous amount of money I just spent to finally own a decent gaming rig again, I also have an interest in the PC staying a gaming platform. So I did as you please. ;)

Thank you, my tears are drying off and I hope I will be able to smile again by the middle of next week.... B-)

P.S. I know all about spending ridiculous amounts of money for a gaming rig.
