E3: Mirror's Edge First Off-screen Gameplay FootageE3: Mirror's Edge First Off-screen Gameplay Footage

Much has been talked about Mirror's Edge. But that Mirror's Edge is much more than just Bungie's Oni from a first person view was shown at EA's most recent E3 press conference: off-screen footage showcased the gameplay, the mechanics, and how skyscraper hiking (and fighting) would look like from an authentic first-person view. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective EA DICE has created a coherent atmosphere that totally suits the gameplay of Mirror's Edge. According to EA DICE the game was meant to deliver a unique gameplay experience: imagine a crossing between Prince of Persia (platformer), Oni (3rd person martial arts), and an authentic first person view. Mirror's Edge also comes with an interesting color code that shows the player various ways of interacting with objects on-the-fly while running away from trigger-happy enemies at top speed. Mirror's Edge is powered by the Unreal 3 Engine with a new lighting solution by DICE that certainly does a fine job. But judge for yourself:
Who would have thought that dropping a fully-loaded weapon and hiking on unarmed would finally make sense in a video game?

I think bit by bit the Hype around Mirrors Edge is getting to me, I think I have to buy that as well.
I'll join you (even though I usually resent buying an EA game ...).
Think the game will come out this year? Amazon.com lists it for the 11th of December.
BTW: Mad props for knowing Oni, besides the extremely boring looking wall textures, I really liked that game.
I'd even go this far to state that Mirror's Edge will come out this holiday!
You mean Christmas?
End of September
Hmmm. I think i need to preorder the PS3 Verson of this :)
