Flagship Studios: "Mythos" Is A Turning Point

Alright, so this is a news article about Flagship Studios apologizing once more for Hellgate: London. You could argue that this is not really news, because there wasn't an opportunity for weeks that the few people working there wouldn't use to apologize. But still: Read on for some promises about their new project Mythos.

Max Schaefer, co-founder of Flagship Studios, recently said that his company has learnt from trying to achieve too much with their first project Hellgate: London and not taking the time to really polish the product. They would now be trying to take a different approach with the upcoming free-to-play MMO Mythos (which is once again inspired by Diablo).

With Mythos we're definitely taking our time, we're well within our budget and our means to make it. It's a little bit of a turning point for us - don't try to do everything for everybody. Just be more realistic about your design goals.

The game has been in development for quite some time now already and recently big parts of it were completely rebuilt. Concerning a release date: all options are still open, but 2008 doesn't sound very likely. We can't blame Flagship Studios for that: taking time and carefully developing a game with the goal to enhance the gameplay is noble and all.

But: They should release it way before Diablo's third coming.
If they don't, he will most probably rip Mythos apart. And he won't apologize.

I used my beta key in order to write about it here on gamersglobal.com. But Mythos didn't capture my interest for more than 2 hours. I should give the new version a try, though.

i´m not sure if i even want to play the game. i don´t like these games that you can download and install for free, but in order to get better equipment you have to pay anyway. that always results in the same thing (at least so far): you either have no fun playing it if you don´t pay or you simply cannot compete with others (no matter if ai enemies or real players) if you don´t cough up.
