Guild Wars 2 Beta Postponed to 2009 (Update)

UPDATE: We've just learned that NCsoft, who will not be joining E3 in mid-July, plan to attend PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) in Seattle, which will start in 58 days, 23 hours and 23 minutes. Sadly, at this stage, the Guild Wars team is not giving interviews.

This may sound like a direct blow to the face of every Guild Wars fan out there: the Guild Wars 2 Beta has now been officially postponed to next year. It seems that the development of the subscription-free MMO is still in need of much more time.

ArenaNet state in their most recent Guild Wars 2 FAQ:

[...] We will not start beta testing in 2008 as we had originally planned. Guild Wars 2 is a very large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have very high expectations of its quality. We want players to be absolutely blown away by the game the first time they experience it.

Thus, it seems that until the beta-testing next year Guild Wars player have to stick to the original installment. Finding something to do in Guild Wars though won't prove to be troublesome if you take into consideration that there are three well-received expansions on the market.

To add another bit of information: I've very recently tried to get another Guild Wars 2 interview, but was turned down for the time being.
