Call of Duty: World At War - Trailer/Co-Op DetailedCall of Duty: World At War - Trailer/Co-Op Detailed

Call of Duty: World At War, the fifth installment of the very popular and widely acclaimed shooter franchise, is heading for all major systems (PC, PS3, Wii and PC) this fall. GamersGlobal first told you about this two weeks ago. Now the first trailer for the game emerged and it is proof for the gritty atmosphere you will be dragged in. But not only you, because you won't fight alone, brave soldier. Assistance is on the way with the co-operative play options that were recently detailed. Four-player online modes will be made available on all systems except for the Nintendo Wii, but the latter version will make up for this with a unique co-op mode for two players. Also: The co-op campaign allows players to rank up and unlock perks in competitive multiplayer by completing challenges and earning experience points, adding continuous re-playability and team-based gameplay. Whether playing competitively or cooperatively – if players are online [...] – they will always gain experience points. Based on a player’s experience rank and rank of the player’s friends, Call of Duty: World at War will scale dynamically to provide a deeper level of challenge. Meanwhile the biggest challenge for developer Treyarch will be to pass the high bar that Call of Duty 4 left in its wake. They weren't too successful with Call of Duty 3 which they developed for consoles only and World War II has been seen so often in games by now that there is the danger of gamers just thinking "Been there, done that" and not playing the game at all. But the screenshots do look good, the co-op might be nice. Time will tell.
