As GamersGlobal reported yesterday, audio and gameplay programmer Guy Somberg (working at Flagship Studios) complained about the circumstances in the dev team of Hellgate: London, claiming that staff is leaving in droves and that, if that goes on like this, he might soon be the last remaining member of the original team that was developing the title. Now David Brevik, Flagship co-founder, tries to calm the situation down. Everyone has good days and bad days. Guy was having a bad day. [...] We will be the first to admit that Hellgate: London did launch with some problems. [...] It can be difficult to stand by and see something that you put your heart and soul into, week in and week out, get the initial reception Hellgate got. It can put a strain on any developer and some days it can get to you. He also states that founders and developers indeed didn't jump the sinking ship in droves to work on other projects, although it would be completely natural that in this business some do this after having finished with a project they' ve been working on for long. According to him, they had less than ten percent turn-over and rehired for all important positions since then. Most of them would be working on either Hellgate: London or on upcoming free-to-play MMO Mythos, which was originally meant to test the networking technology behind the multiplayer component of Hellgate: London and has since then developed into an independent game. If David Brevik would read these lines, he'd probably even ask us to delete the term "sinking ship", because he doesn't consider the ship to be sinking at any rate. The team size [...] is as big now as when we shipped. We are putting all of our efforts into these projects and I think it will show in the upcoming Hellgate Abyss Chronicles. But for the moment we better stay sceptical. Hard to know whom to trust nowadays.
