Hellgate London: Abyss Chronicles Finally Reaches Test ServerHellgate London: Abyss Chronicles Finally Reaches Test Server
Last updated on June 11, 2008 - 19:38.
With a 2 months delay and a canceled test center start on the 12th of May this year, some players thought it would never happen: the next major content patch The Abyss Chronicles should have arrived on the test-center server by now. You can find a detailed description of the changes as well as a preview to patch 2.1 down below. Also last week Flagship Studios, the developers of Hellgate London, didn't submit the trailer of patch 1.3 but unintentionally the patch 2.0 trailer. It was immediately removed, but an unofficial (low-quality) version can still be found here. On the official forums, there's now a new department called the Developer Blog where one can find up-to-date information regarding what Flagship Studios are working on, or, if one cares, about the eating habits of the developers. The patch (see the details in the Testserver Patch Notes) includes:
And here a preview of patch 2.1:

Ebony Soul, thanks for the news. I presume the details are from the patch readme? Then it's better to use italics. +10 EXP for making Top-News and +10 EXP for First News -- I really like the picture :-) (thanks to Knurrunkulus for adding it)
Jörg, is it possible to structure the First News in such a way that you have to click on the "Read more"-button to really see the patch notes? In its current form, with the detailed patch notes being visible from the start, you have to scroll down pretty far to see the other top news.
Hmm, I tried a manual break (<.!--break-->), without the "."), but that didn't help...
It's not possible at the moment, I'm afraid, because the First News works differently from a normal news. For the time being, we have to endure that for that one or two instances per month where a first news is very long, like this one. Perhaps it would have been better to only link to the patch notes, or post them on a "hidden", static page, and link to that page. But that only an admin could do, and I do not think the issue is *that* important.
It was a “copy and paste” work from the announcement of the Patch. The final (test server) patch notes can be found here:

Thanks! I've included the link and at the same time shortened the detailed list to just the "headlines".
Hi, EbonySoul. Thank you for this news. Do you actively play "Hellgate: London"? Because if you do, I would be interested in your opinion about it. Would you recommend it all in all or do you criticise the same things that many people don't like in the game (monotonous gameplay, overpriced subscription service, lacking support etc.)?
I am a Founder and Lifetime Subscriber and returned 2 weeks ago back to Hellgate. By now subscribing isn’t worth the money. Until now Subscriber only get: shared stash, 1 new Area with 2 Bosses (only Place in the Game to loot new Pets, Retrainers and special dye kits), some Unique Weapons and the Gambling Merchant additional. But Patch 2 is about changing that. Hopefully FSS can now bring every 3 Month a new Subscriber-Patch.
The Quest don’t rock and most of then are just “Kill X Demons”. But I don’t play for the Quest! It’s the collecting passion and that work until lvl 35-40 (depends on the Class). Then the Attribute Feed System forces you to wear mostly +AA Armor just to carry the new found Weapons or Mods.
By release the support was horrible. But now it’s not longer a catastrophe but far away from outstanding.
Good inside information EbonySoul!
I wasn't veary pleased with the excessive capitalization though, keep an eye on it ;)
This is the largest teamwork on a GG article so far :D
It definitely is. I don't know if all the revisions were really necessary (some of them actually really didn't make that much sense in my opinion), but we will definitely improve the teamwork with time.
EbonySoul, I hope you don't think that your article was "bad" because there have been so many changes to it by now. Most of them were dealing with formal things (like putting things into italics) anyway.
So don't get this wrong: You did a good job which is very much appreciated.
Wow, I think this is the posting with the most collaborators in the short history of GamersGlobal :-) I've slightly changed the last headline "Hellgate London: The Abyss Chronicles Finally Reach the Test Server" into the current one for two reasons: First, it was too long, taking three lines instead of two. Second, we're talking about a game or addon, so it is singular. I think we had a similar discussion a short while ago about company names :-) Thank you for your contributions and all the additional formatting of the text!
