Team Fortress 2: Next update with focus on Pyro

According to a recent message from Valve, the next update for Team Fortress 2 is almost wrapped up. Having a very strong focus on the Pyro class this time and therefore bringing new achievements and unlockable weapons into the game. If you don't yet know what the structure of these patches with specific focus on several classes is about, check out our detailed report about the first medic update. Valve states that they had a close look on the changes the medic update brought into the game, that they were listening carefully to the feedback of the community and that they designed the new weapons and achievements with this feedback in mind to further enhance the gameplay. It can be guessed that, like in the last update, there will be three new weapons to unlock, and one of them has now already been announced. Enter the Axtinguisher.

Although it does about half of normal damage to standard run-of-the-mill non-burning enemies, once you light someone on fire the Axtinguisher will guarantee a critical hit. Along with all of the new content, we're also going to be making some significant changes to the Pyro class for everyone, regardless of whether they have unlocked any new items.

There will also be a new intro for the Sniper, one of the popular video introductions which up to now already featured the Demoman, the Scout and the Engineer.

Concerning the release date: It's Valve, and they always take their time.
Them saying it's "nearly wrapped up" could just as well mean: "Still one month to go."

I'm still waiting for the first update on the Xbox 360. And I'm getting impatient. Doug, get in gear, honey!

What is the reason for it taking so long? I wouldn't have thought this to be too difficult, but then again I don't know anything about programming, so probably I'm not really the best person to judge on this.

I think the real reason behind this might be the costs. Releasing DLC on Xbox Live isn't a free of charge thing to do, and the community of TF2 players on the consoles might be rather limited as well (but that's because of the laggy gameplay that never really got patched for the consoleros).
