Resident Evil 5: developed on PC for PC and consolesResident Evil 5: developed on PC for PC and consoles
Last updated on June 9, 2008 - 13:28.
Resident Evil 5 is being mainly developed for the PC and then ported to consoles. This is a big change as all four predecessors were developed the other way around. Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi presented RE5 on the Xbox 360, and not on the PS3, on Capcom's Captivate 08 event. They wanted to show a running version and it was faster to port the game to the Xbox 360 because of hardware similarities to the PC. This small revolution means that the PC version could be available at the same time the console versions come out, and not months later as with Resident Evil's predecessors. And hopefully, this PC version will feature a better quality. The game is due in April 2009.

I didn't even know that Resi 5 will come out for PC as well. So thanks for making that clear. Looking forward to it.
Can somebody confirm that this game will in fact come out for the PC? Neither the official homepage, nor the Wikipedia article says a word about this.
And my hopes were just growing. :(
Probably Phlexonance could edit the news and put a link into it, thereby giving insight into the source he based his article on. This would hopefully shed some light on your question, Starkiller.

The penultimate paragraph.
But if you have a look at the very end, the platforms eurogamer.net announce the game for only include PS3 and XBox360. Not a single word about a pc version in there. So probably, although it is mainly developed with a pc, we will never come to see a pc version.
Because it's not confirmed yet.
Now way they are pulling off the same shit as Lucasarts.

In your news article it sounds like it is already confirmed, because you wrote that Resident Evil 5 will be available for PC along with the versions for PS3/ XBox360. It would be better if you changed the penultimate paragraph, using "could" instead of "will" and then giving a link to the IGN news, thereby speculating that it might be announced for the PC in the near future.
Yes I agree.
Better now, much better. :)
Well, Every console game is being developed on a PC, that's no big news, there are development tools *for* Consoles, but not *on* Consoles.
That wouldn't be News, so I tend to agree this could be a hint to a PC version, but I guess if a PC Version is coming, they won't break away from previous releases and will release the PC version after the consoles games are already out.
They said it's easy to port from PC fo Xbox360, then I assume they mean to port from the PC version to the Xbox 360 version and I also think that they previously developed the game on the pc for consoles and afterwards ported the console version to the pc.
Why should they wait with the PC version this time ?
That wouldn't make any sense.
> Why should they wait with the PC version this time ?
Well, it might not make much sense from a user perspective, but if you're a sales-person, it makes a whole lot of sense, at least when you strongly believe that everybody that owns a PC is into copyright piracy.
Why waste the game on the PC if you can release it on the console and actually make money with it? (It might help to know that I'm a strong supporter of the PC platform to understand the more subtle notes here :-))
I might have used the stylistic device of exaggeration here, but do I believe that they are capable of delaying a finished title, because they fear that the title will get cracked to soon and nobody will buy the consoles games anymore, absolutely.
Hm, I have the impression that people are either PC xor console gamers and that only a small portion of those sets intersects.
Well... true, there is only one heart in my chest and I don't believe in polygamy :-)
But I do also own a PS3 if that easies your mind.
I think you'll often find the combination of PC and Wii, but not so often PC and PS3 or even PC and Xbox 360. Well, PC and PS2 must be a typical combination, too...
Ok, then let me rephrase that, I have my beloved PC and a GTAIV-play-thingy :-)
Yes, because the Wii is a console which focuses on party play and you can't have party play on a PC ;)
The PS3 and Xbox 360 have a lot of single player oriented games and thus stand in direct conflict with a PC.
You can't have a party with a PC?
You obviously never played You don't know Jack :-)
Oh c'mon, quit the hairsplitting.
Yes I know and have played YDKJ, but this is an exception, just like Worms.
99,99% of the PC games are oriented on one person sitting in front of it and playing.
That's of course true, and I like it this way, but doesn't your 99% rule apply to all games and all platforms out there? Even Multiplayer-games have you sit alone at your Box. Sure there are games with hotseat Modes or Split-screen modes, but compared to all other games that don't have that, does it really matter and which platform you look?
Well a console has up to 4 controllers, that makes it a party game station imo.
I don't own a console, but I've played a lot of Wii with friends and there are a lot of party games.
My point was that you take the Wii out to play when you want to play with someone else rather than by yourself and the PC for the opposite.
Well, I see your point and I agree in big parts, let's just leave it at that, I don't think either of us can back this up with some numbers, but I would assume that a lot of people just bought the Wii for a single player experience, e.g. to play the new Zelda.
Of course I can't back it up. Why should I? I'm not trying to convince anyone, I'm just stating my view ;)
